We are happy to report that the Entrepreneurial Apprenticeship Program (EAP) secured three more years of funding thanks to the Joseph J. Schott Family Foundation in honor of recently retired Food & Beverage Director Bill Sargent, who played an important part in founding this program.
This summer program allows 12-16 middle and high school students to work directly with department heads at Cypress Woods Golf & Country Club to learn the ins-and-outs of the hospitality business. Students are given uniforms, clock in and leave their cellphones in a basket for in-depth learning that even comes with a paycheck! Students rotate working alongside managers in departments such as the pro shop, kitchen, front of house restaurant, golf course, and the administrative offices.
This amazing program has led to two of our students taking weekend jobs at the Club. Julio and Aaron are currently working in the golf pro shop and eager to continue to learn employment skills, self confidence and sense of self value.
